Problem with image maps in IE6, getting double tool tips

I'm having a problem with image maps in IE6, I'm getting two tool tips. The first is the intended tool tip via boxover that comes up instantly. The second shows up about a second later that must be the browser default which is ans an ugly text box, kind of like what you would expect to see with the alt attribute. Anyway, it goes away after about 4 seconds and won't come back again unless the page is reloaded. It is very annoying.

This problem is not site specific, you can even view it on the image map example on this site while using IE6 "http://boxover.swazz.org/example.html " Move mouse over the eye of the dog an leave it there till second tool tip comes up.

Know of anyway to disable this? This problem does not appear in Firefox 1.5.
