background image in header?

Is it possible to implement an image in the Header of a BoxOver as the background via the CSS a la:

dvHdr.style.backgroundimage='url(imagepath)';

?

I'd like a gradient in my header, so the only way that I know how is to make a little image file and reference it.

Any insight is appreciated! I've tried it, but to no avail. I didn't know if this was too ambitious, or my code is wrong.
